At our high tech PR firm, we’re fully committed to our clients. But we’re also dedicated to the Northern Virginia community too. Which is why we’re looking forward to the 7th annual Run! Geek! Run! race.
Our agency launched this event to benefit the Equal Footing Foundation, a non-profit which seeks to level the playing field (hence the term, “equal footing”) with respect to the education/development of young people, regardless of race, creed or economic circumstance. To support this goal, Equal Footing runs six local Computer Clubhouses; has awarded more than two-dozen tech-education George Mason University scholarships; sponsors Space Camp weeks at the Virginia Space Flight Academy; and organizes/coaches teams for regional Botball Robotics competitions.
This year, we’ve made a few changes with the event: It will take place on Sunday, Aug. 24, instead of the traditional fall date. It’s a 5K now, not an 8K. And we’re going to host it at Fairfax Corner – right in the heart of the community that the Equal Footing Foundation serves – instead of Washington, D.C.
Given this transition, we’re thrilled that more than 280 runners have signed up so far. Run! Geek! Run! is a blast too. Participants often get creative with their “geek”-themed outfits. (One of our favorites in recent years was a team that dressed up like Albert Einstein.)
